Kind regards to all the fine performers with whom I have played the Jam and a special "Thank You" to the loyal audience for their generosity of spirit and warm acceptance. As always, "It's a fine looking crowd"!
Kind Regards
Dennis

I know what I'll do, (remember how the Beatles used to record double tracks? They would record one thing on the surface tape, but if you played it backwards you could hear the real message of the song). Here's the fake message, and if you read it backwards you will see the real message.
"If you've never been to a John Street Jam don't go it cost a lot of money, the snacks are full of trans fat, the talent consist of American Idol rejects. I.E. "she bangs she bangs."
That's not the truth... the truth is the John Street Jam is a group of very friendly people, the cover charge is only $3.00, the talent is beyond outstanding, and Steve and Teri work hard to keep this night a special evening for both the audience and the players.
The jam is a wonderful place and the doors are always open, come by and visit the living room of Saugerties. | | | Post Reply | Display replies to this message

to P entangle/John Re inborn inspired pieces -Paul Stokes again Thank you for revealing how wondeful the guitar sounds in D-A-D-G-A-D tuning and Robbie Pittelman for resurrecting the spirit of Joe Pass but it was Helen Avakian with her solo rendition of Rhapsody in Blue that brought the house down.
Helen is well known as a singer/songwriter but her musicianship is beyond reproach. Thank you all and thank you John Street Jam for providing a venue for this wonderful talent. | | | Post Reply | Display replies to this message

Instead I think I'll mention a few memorable moments that were just fun:
..."Sharon" as performed by Dick Vincent - it was exhausting just watching all that energy come out
..."Sharon" as performed by Terry Seeley - how appropriate - was that a "G-string" that broke?
...Terry Seeley's John St. Jam Special Protocol - we can now turn to Terry to interpret the fine print
...Dennis Havel's "Let's Go Riding in My Car" - laughs at a mile a minute.
In this category I also have to mention Peggy Atwood's "I Wanna Be Jane" and Blair Shepherd's performance of "I Did It Their Way".
There were many other moments of great fun at the Jam, but my sieve-like brain has let the details slip away...

What a diverse group! Folk, blues, jazz, show tunes, terrific! Especially good for someone with ADD like me. The audience was as terrific as the performers... totally present and appreciative of all the entertainment. I had flashbacks to the late 1960's with its ambiance. The only regret I have is that I didn't know about the Jam earlier. | | | Post Reply | Display replies to this message

With the fantastic singing from fellow players and the audience, I now consider myself a choirpractor. I use the website, by the way, as a promo tool to many people I interact with. Excellent job on it, T and S! So many memories there...seeing Robert D's face again behind Emmy Clarke's picture for example. This is evolving at least partly into a time capsule of musical warmth with echos and visions of friends present and gone. Each of us is a ship, and reality is the razor sharp prow splitting the waters of time. We live for that, but turning to the stern we see an ocean of memories fading into the horizon. Websites like this one serves as a spyglass, helping us recall our more distant experiences once more. Thanks. | | | Post Reply | Display replies to this message

You folks are not all that far from Schenectady for an occasional visit, which I plan to do, maybe even before Jack plays at JSJ. The previous post about keeping the JSJ a secret made me chuckle - but I can empathize with his/her sentiments. | | | Post Reply | | |
